Stop Dave, I’m Afraid
I might watch Space Odyssey 2001 tonight. This is an interesting scene I think. A bit uncomfortable to watch though i suppose, the drawn out nature of it and all.

Sometimes I worry my hearing will go for various reasons, mostly all those scare stories about headphones and such like. I came across this today on Neatorama which omitts a high pitch sound usually only heard by Under 25′s and I could hear it…which I should being 23, but it was still most fun! Give it a go yourself.

The Onion, for the ones living under rocks is a satire news site. There mostly good, with an occasional very good one. Like the following seemed a good play on violent video games and the impending WW3!
I find most music videos a bit rubbish, and rather wasteful but here are a few I like. Not really any new ones, can’t remember the last time I watched a music video!
I also wanted to put in Right Here Right now by Fatboy Slim but all the embedding is disabled for some reason for that video on youtube and this blogs formatting goes all funny when I embed a video from Daily Motion, so I give up!
I saw Che the other day in the cinema, defiantly worth a watch I think. I enjoyed the film. Che Guvara is a symbol of revolution that’s for sure. The hatred for a corrupt system (capitalism) and want for a better world for us all. As it has been showed his theory, I suppose, was somewhat flawed however what you can’t deny is that life for the people of Cuba is considerably better then if the revolution had not occurred. Average life expectancy is that of any western country, while capitalist countries around Cuba that maintained a capitalist society is about half that of Cuba! So it’s not possible I feel to say that the revolution wasn’t beneficial. Of course elements that occurred, mostly because of the United Sates of America was unfortunate and ultimately detrimental but to say it wasn’t worth it I think is unjustified. Many lessons can be learnt from the Cuban Revolution.
This video scares me when I watch it. I think it’s the music, the voice and the guns. But I think what bothers me most about this is the celebration of such stupidity really. Capped off with equally stupid quotes about people having guns to protect themselves from the tyranny of government. Now surly that should make people think ‘dang if we feel the need to protect ourselves from government then it’s not really our government is it?’. I don’t know I just find this concept of needing small government and handing over power to a small number of individuals (private companies) so ludicrous in the sense that that supposedly means that it creates a free society! By giving power to people you don’t elect and can’t get rid of very easily when you find out their bad. But it’s all part of the capitalist propaganda, people are conditioned to associate capitalism with freedom and have had a very long time to ingrain these values into people. You can never have democracy within a capitalist society, it’s just not possible.
An old site now but I came across this again today in a friends facebook status. Basically you enter two words and then the words fight it out and which ever has more google search term hits wins the fight which is illtrated with a bit of flash stick fighting. Link.
Here’s a video I came across a while ago but I don’t think I ever posted it, so I will now! It’s made by a group of Australian subversive artists called the Monochrom. Here’s in one of their many sock puppet videos. Here they explain Neo Liberalism in a nice way I think.
Carrying on with the music posts here’s a tune by Passion Pit called Sleepyhead that’s really lush. Like a mix between The Postal Service and MGMT. A dreamy vibrant tune.
I think I have blogged about this video before. But dosh darn-it I just love it so much. Just the best bit of guitar playing I have ever seen. His best album IMO was Sunrise Over Sea, wasn’t such a fan of Grand National, but don;t get me wrong, still a good album.
